The requirement: to illuminate the resort’s outdoor spaces

The owners of this Sicilian hotel, in the province of Palermo, needed to replace the decorative lighting columns. The request was to retain the classic style, but with the specific requirement to incorporate new-generation LED technology that was energy-efficient, featured a cut-off function and was suitable for a hospitality setting.

The items in the Sovil catalogue that met these requirements, as proposed by the distributor, featured a single light source. Properly illuminating the outdoor areas of a hotel is essential for safety, usability and the quality of the guest experience. It was therefore necessary to find an alternative system.

The solution: a classic lamppost with three Avenida LED lanterns

Through discussions between the distributor, the agency and the company, the most suitable solution was reached: to customise the lamppost by modifying the entire head section to accommodate the Avenida series lanterns.

The base unit is the classic 2-metre steel street lamp post. The additional light fittings all feature a high-quality die-cast aluminium structure and have no protective glass panels on the sides, as they incorporate a transparent moulded glass diffuser fitted directly onto the new-generation, high-energy-efficiency 30W LED module. They feature a rotationally symmetrical optical system and emit natural light with a colour temperature of 4000 K. They are fitted with a dimmable driver (0–10 Vdc), a surge protection device (20 kV) and a connection device.

Particular attention has been paid to protection and resistance to external elements: a silicone seal is fitted between the structure and the cover to protect against the ingress of water and dust, and all components are treated with coatings developed and tested in Sovil’s laboratories specifically for outdoor use.

A bespoke solution that combined aesthetics, functionality, lighting performance and practicality. The easy assembly and connection was confirmed directly by the company responsible for the installation.
